OHF BULLETIN: 2022-2023 Seasonal Calendar Motions

At the OHF Semi-Annual meeting of the Members on Saturday, February 26, 2022, the OHF Playing Regulations for the 2022-2023 season were passed which included the following Seasonal Calendar amendments for Minor Hockey specifically:

  • The first tryout date for U11 and U13 AAA Programming is the first Saturday following Labour Day. Each Association individually or as a collective are to provide Preparation Skates the Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday for those Players that wish to participate.

  • The U13 Player Pathway requirements for Preparation Skates (MHA must provide opportunity to 4 skates), Player Evaluations (3 evaluations skates before cuts are made with a skills, small area games and scrimmage), Development Phase, Regular Season Phase and Tournament Style Play- offs.   • There are no tournaments for any programming held prior to September 30, 2022.

o U11 and U13 AAA Programs may begin tournaments on September 30, 2022; and o U11 and U13 AA and below can begin tournament October 7, 2022.

  • All competitive (not MD, House League, Local League and Select) programming at U15 and above have a mandatory Development Phase for the first 24 days following Labour Day Monday with a maximum of 4 Exhibition Games during this time frame (September 6, 2022 to September 29, 2022).

  • To host the OHF Championships the 4th weekend of April, April 21-23, 2023.

  • Players at U12 and below in the 2021-22 season are Registered Participants of their previous

    season’s Team up to and inclusive of Labour Day for the 2022-23 season.

These adaptations to the Regulations are in line with the philosophy to give children and family back their summers at all Divisions and Categories with a longer overall season with significant and meaningful competition for all teams until March 1 of the playing season.
