From July 19–23, Oakville, Ontario played host to Hockey Canada’s prestigious National Under-17 Development Camp — a key event in shaping the future of Canadian hockey. A total of 79 players participated in the five-day camp, including 30 players selected from the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), highlighting the province’s strong contribution to Canada’s next generation of elite athletes.

The camp, held at the Sixteen Mile Sports Complex, brought together top U17 talent drafted by Canadian Hockey League teams, including 8 goaltenders, 23 defensemen, and 48 forwards. Under the guidance of Hockey Canada's Director of Player Personnel, Alan Millar, and U17 Head Scout Byron Bonora, players were introduced to the Program of Excellence through a mix of on-ice practices and high-level game situations.

The development experience not only sets the stage for the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge this fall, but also represents a major milestone for players looking to wear the Maple Leaf in future international competition. Following the camp, 66 players will be selected to represent Canada on one of three national teams: Canada Red, Canada Black, and Canada White.
