'25 - '26 NHL/NHLPA First Shift Program

WHAT IS THE NHL/NHLPA FIRST SHIFT:

The First Shift is a beginner hockey program focused on giving kids aged 6–10 a memorable first experience on the ice. With full head-to-toe Bauer hockey gear included and no previous experience required, it's the easiest and most affordable way to try the game. Whether your child has never worn skates or has never held a stick, they’ll feel welcomed, encouraged, and supported every step of the way.

WHAT MAKES IT SPECIAL:

This six-week, once-a-week program is tailored for fun and learning. It’s built around a Hockey Canada on-ice curriculum that emphasizes:

• Fundamental skills like skating, puck handling, passing, and shooting

• Small-area games and skill stations to keep things active and engaging

• Teamwork and confidence building through praise and positive reinforcement

• A welcoming and pressure-free environment for both kids and parents
  
  

WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE $299 REGISTRATION FEE:

THE WELCOME EVENT

The First Shift kicks off with a Welcome Event that sets the tone for the entire experience. You’ll meet the local program leaders, learn what to expect over the coming weeks, and get all the gear your child needs to hit the ice with confidence. Our expert fitting team ensures everything fits properly—comfort and safety first!
