BFL Canada Women in Coaching Award Nominations Open!

Date: Dec, 02, 2024 12:00 PM EDT

Coaches hold one of the most important roles in hockey, guiding young athletes both on and off the ice as leaders in sport and life.

Hockey Canada and BFL CANADA are seeking nominations for exceptional women coaches across the country, celebrating their contributions to the game in 3 categories: Community, Competitive, and High Performance.

  • Community Coaches work with athletes in non-championship divisions, such as U7-U15 House League or A/AA teams.
  • Competitive Coaches guide athletes in divisions eligible for National or Sport School Championships, including U15-U18 AAA and U22 Elite levels.
  • High Performance Coaches mentor athletes aged 16 and older at university, collegiate, or professional levels.

Nominees in all categories must demonstrate leadership, sportsmanship, and a commitment to player development, safety, and equitable participation. Active coaches must be certified under the National Coach Certification Program, meet all coaching requirements, and be in good standing with their provincial or territorial hockey organization.

Nominations, open now through March 31, can be submitted online. Prizes include a $5,000 bursary and a customized Team Canada jersey for national winners in the Community and Competitive categories, while High Performance winners receive a $5,000 bursary and an invitation to Canada's National Women’s Team camp in September 2025. Provincial and territorial winners in the Community and Competitive categories will receive a $1,000 bursary.
